Effect of Probiotic-Fortified Infant Formula on Infant Gut Health and Microbiota Modulation

چکیده
Compared to infant formula, breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants; it not only improves neonatal intestinal function, but also regulates immune system and gut microbiota composition. However, probiotic-fortified formula may further enhance environment by overcoming limitations traditional formula. We investigated probiotic administration one month comparing 118 Korean infants into following three groups: in each group fed with (50), (35), or placebo formula-fed (33). Probiotic improved stool consistency defecation frequency compared group. The helped maintaining level secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA), which had remarkably decreased over time (compared weeks 0 4). Moreover, acidity considerably increased butyrate concentration. Furthermore, fecal was evaluated at 4. microbial composition distinct between groups, abundance health-promoting bacteria In summary, supplementation can help optimize environment, composition, metabolic activity microbiota, mimicking those milk.

Effect of infant formula with probiotics on intestinal microbiota.
Weaning during infancy refers to the initiation of complementary food to breast milk. During weaning, there are significant changes on the gastrointestinal microbiota. Deleterious alterations of the gastrointestinal microbiota can result in pathological processes while measures that stimulate its development and stability, like the use of probiotics, are beneficial. The mechanisms by which prob...

The interplay between both heredity and environmental factors seems to affect every stage of development from conception to the early postnatal period with potential long-term effects on child and adult health. During pregnancy, immune and metabolic functions of the fetus are dependent on the mother; moreover, the refinement of these functions seems to commence inside the uterus and to be diet ...

F rom once being employed as an extreme measure, to save a fetus on the death of the mother, cesarean section is used more commonly now as a mode of delivery for entirely non-medical reasons (1). A sharp increase in cesarean delivery has been noted in most Western countries during the past decades; in the United States, one-third of all babies is now being delivered by cesarean section (2); in ...

METHODS This was a non-randomized, open, uncontrolled study conducted from December 2010 to May 2011. Twenty-three healthy infants aged 10 days to 2 months o...
متن کاملGut Microbiome and Infant Health: Brain-Gut-Microbiota Axis and Host Genetic Factors
The development of the neonatal gut microbiome is influenced by multiple factors, such as delivery mode, feeding, medication use, hospital environment, early life stress, and genetics. The dysbiosis of gut microbiota persists during infancy, especially in high-risk preterm infants who experience lengthy stays in the Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Infant microbiome evolutionary trajectory ...
